Coming Down the Mountain

A few years ago after a time of fasting and prayer, I wrote this in my journal.






Oh, God, as I am descending this mountain, I was feeling, yes, less than on the mountaintop and then I read Oswald Chambers devotional for October 1 and I knew it was for me. 
Forgive my spiritual selfishness of wanting to stay on the mountaintop instead of operating in the valley.

"Spiritual selfishness always wants repeated moments on the mount. The mount is not meant to teach us anything, it is meant to make us something. There is a great snare in asking "What is the use of it?" They are meant for something in God's purpose."--Oswald Chambers



So, God, today help me to be content in whatsoever state I find myself--whether on the mountaintop, coming down, going up, or in the valley--Teach me to live victoriously wherever you place me.

 I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. 
Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.   
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.   
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. 
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.   
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:10-13
