Learning to Rest

One of my sons and his wife recently bought some land that they are excited about.

Right after the big snow last week they drove out to see it--to see how their view would be when they build a house on it someday.

As soon as I saw the picture I asked them if I could edit it with a verse--they gave me the verse--and this is how it turned out.

No matter what our lives look like today--troubles, storms, chaos--we can have peace and calm--it's all about learning to dwell, to abide in Jesus.

The book of John in the New Testament of the Bible is an especially good read for learning how to abide in Jesus--I especially love chapters, 15, 16, and 17.

I pray today that your life, no matter the circumstances, will be filled with peace and calm.  God is the only answer to all of our fears, anxieties, and uncertainties.

Have a blessed, peaceful weekend.

Welcome Back!

Winter is my favorite season and I love the cold, cloudy days that come with it so much of the time.

However, first thing in the morning--I do love a patch of light as I arise and walk into my tiny living room, the room where I meet with my God.

I have been away from this blog space for almost a month now.  We took our computers in to be serviced and were without them much longer than I had anticipated.  I have never posted from my phone--I should learn how to do that.

So welcome back to my little corner of this vast cyber space of craziness.  I will try to get back to a somewhat regular routine and hopefully God will provide us a taste of His love and friendship through this space.

The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?  Psalm 27:1

My husband noticed this vase when we were at a garage sale a few years ago--we bought it for $1.00 but from the markings on the bottom I found it on the internet--sells for $54.00.

The "blue welcome" in the picture above was done with my handwriting via a Wacom tablet--this was done a few years ago and I happened to come across it on my computer this morning.

Praying for the Generations

How much can one love?

The love I have for these grandchildren of ours prompts me to pray often for them--their salvation, their direction in life, surrendering the Lordship of their lives to Jesus Christ--

Every Monday (yes, I took quite a long Christmas break from blogging) here on the blog, we dedicate this time to pray for the precious ones--those closest to us--what a privilege it is to bring them before the Lord in prayer and ask His blessings upon them.

From left they are Caroline, Kailey, Kennedy, Noelle, Katelyn, Ashton, James and Kendall.

You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1

Father, I love you.  I give you praise.
It is for the precious ones that I meet with You here and ask You to bless them.

I pray that the scripture above will be their earnest prayer--

that they will recognize that You are their God--
that they will seek You with all their hearts--
That they will thirst for You and long for You
in a deep and holy way.

Father, would You saturate their dryness with Your precious Holy Spirit?
Would you be an oasis, a deep well, a river of living water that will
spring up from within them and minister to them all the days of their lives.

Father, how I thank You for the gift of prayer--
especially that of praying scripture.
My heart beats hard, Father, when I pray scripture,
because I know that You are touched by Your Word
and also touched by my infirmities.

You will respond to Your Word and I am confident when I pray
Your Word that You will bring things to pass--
You will open doors that have been seemingly sealed shut,

You will make a way where huge obstacles block the path,
You will bring light in extreme darkness.

Father, I love the word extreme--
Because that is what You are to me.

Extreme in Your love,
Extreme in Your faithfulness,
Extreme in Your holiness,
Extreme in Your grace and mercy--
Extreme in Your Extremeness.

Forever to worship You.

That is the extreme ultimate.

I pray in Jesus' Name.  Amen

Meditate--Word for 2016

Meditate is the WORD I believe God has laid on my heart for 2016.

Today I am meditating on Psalm 2 and the song above by Selah.

I hope it ministers to you as it has to me on numerous occasions.

If you have a special Word for 2016, I would love for you to share it in the comments below.

My wish for you for this New Year is that you will come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior if you don't know Him already and if you do, my hope is that you will draw closer to Him and come to love Him more.
