The Saving of Many Lives

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.  Genesis 50:20

1.  Am I living in light of this verse?

2.  Am I taking this scripture seriously?

3.  If I believe and hold to this scripture, what difference will it make in my life?

4.  What does this passage teach me about God?

Questions adapted from Tim Keller's book Prayer.

Be Strong and Courageous!

This is our meditation scripture for Friday, September 27.

Questions to ask ourselves--

1. Am I living in light of this verse?

2. Am I taking this scripture seriously?

3. If I believe and hold to this scripture, what difference will it make in my life?

4. What does this passage teach me about God?

Questions adapted from Tim Keller's book Prayer.

Hearing from God in our meditation is a very personal thing and it is my desire that that is what each one of us take away from this--personal, intimate conversation with Him.

Have Faith, Believe, Earnestly Seek

This is our meditation scripture for Thursday, September 26.  It is a really good one.  I have always loved this verse--some admonition but a promise also concerning those who earnestly seek Him.

Here are the questions to ask yourself:

1.  Am I living in light of this verse?
2.  Am I taking this scripture seriously?
3.  If I believe and hold to this scripture, what difference will it make in my life?
4.  What does this passage teach me about God?

Questions adapted from Tim Keller's book Prayer.

My Portion

This is the scripture I am meditating on today--

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

 Psalm 73: 25, 26

Biblical Meditation

Meditation--It seems to be a hot topic right now. Some refer to it as mindfulness, contemplation, etc.

The type of meditation I am interested in is Biblical meditation where we ponder a scripture, read it several times, really think about it and ask ourselves some questions about it.

I started a little group on Facebook and decided to bring it here also.  I have been feeling as if I should relaunch my blog so here is another try.

The scripture we are meditating on today is Hebrews 4:12--

The Word of God is living and active--It is sharper than any double-edged sword and penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The questions to ask ourselves taken from Tim Keller's book on prayer are:

1.  Am I living in light of this?

2.  Am I taking this scripture seriously?

3.  If I believe and hold to this scripture, what difference will it make in my life?

One more question--the most important of all I think--

4.  What does this passage teach me about God?

If you would like to go deeper, you can journal your answers.

Also, next week I will be adding some more questions if you would like to take the meditation to a deeper level.
