Biblical Meditation

Meditation--It seems to be a hot topic right now. Some refer to it as mindfulness, contemplation, etc.

The type of meditation I am interested in is Biblical meditation where we ponder a scripture, read it several times, really think about it and ask ourselves some questions about it.

I started a little group on Facebook and decided to bring it here also.  I have been feeling as if I should relaunch my blog so here is another try.

The scripture we are meditating on today is Hebrews 4:12--

The Word of God is living and active--It is sharper than any double-edged sword and penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The questions to ask ourselves taken from Tim Keller's book on prayer are:

1.  Am I living in light of this?

2.  Am I taking this scripture seriously?

3.  If I believe and hold to this scripture, what difference will it make in my life?

One more question--the most important of all I think--

4.  What does this passage teach me about God?

If you would like to go deeper, you can journal your answers.

Also, next week I will be adding some more questions if you would like to take the meditation to a deeper level.
