JULY 8TH, 1910 DADDY BOYD'S SPECIAL DAY!

My father, Boyd in the back left with his sister, Jessie, in front of him, baby brother Erlie, and sister Eulah. I love Aunt Jessie's little doll. In this picture there is an incredible resemblance between my father and my sister's son, John David.

My father was born on July 8, 1910. One of his very favorite songs was Sentimental Journey. He always said that he wanted us to sing that on the way to Big Creek where he was buried. So we did just that. We sang in the family car on the way there and it was beautiful and quite poignant. Happy earthly, birthday, Daddy Boydie, although I know where you are, you have no interest in earthly things. You have flown from the cares of this life and I know you are rejoicing about much greater things now. I love you!

A REALLY GOOD DAY!

Today was a really good day. We went to church at Summit. My sister and her husband visited today and Kailey sung a solo. We all went out to eat at Mi Burritos and then went over to Kim and Jeff's house for a little while. Kailey, Kim, Kendall and Erin came over to our house later and spent most of the afternoon. Kailey worked on Photoshop Elements to edit some of her photography and then we all played "Quick Scrabble." Thank you, God, for special days of just being together and playing games. What a joy!

I am including one of Kendall's favorite songs right now. He was trying to play it on the piano and did a pretty good job being that he doesn't play the piano! After he left I found this video that reminded me of me and him trying to figure out how to play it. Kendall, just memorize this and you got it! YEA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA, MY HOME!!!

How about a bicycle decorating contest? This is what the kids on my cul-de-sac did 2 years ago. I just loved this one!

I am including one of the most awesome versions of the National Anthem that I've ever heard. Happy birthday, America, my home sweet home! Hope your July 4th is the best ever. God bless you and God bless America.

CAROLINE'S BIRTHDAY DINNER!

Here are a couple of pictures of Caroline's birthday dinner. She had just gotten back from the National AAU basketball tournament in New Orleans--had been gone for about 9 days--came in 2nd (more about that later) and is headed tomorrow for the Smoky Mountains with her family on a mission trip SO we managed to sandwich a little birthday dinner between the two activities.
