Most of it was done painting negatively. I just slapped a bunch of different colors on and then went to work painting around shapes that I thought might give the impression of being a flower once the painting was done. The vase, a few stems and highlights on flowers were painted positively.
I'm really liking it--just wish it was way, way bigger--think I will try to do one about 36" by 36".
