Our Refuge and Strength

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

The Lord Almighty is with us,
The God of Jacob is our fortress.

from Psalm 46

I love to hear Pat Boone tell the story of his wife, daughters and him as they held hands
and quoted this scripture together during one of the worst earthquakes in California's modern history.

God was surely their only refuge and strength.

The light and shadow in these are such great reminders of the ebb and flow of life. Only in Him is there stability.

When there was a tornado in Omaha in May, '75, I heard from some people at my church that their family was in a fast food place as it was coming down the street, they began singing a worship/praise song... and the tornado hopped over that block. It truly was a miracle.

The Word, worship and focusing on the Lord can bring forth victory in more ways than anything we could ever anticipate.
