Consider this--Jesus walked with two of his followers (who did not recognize him at the time) from Emmaus to Jerusalem. Later on that evening as Jesus broke bread and blessed it they suddenly recognized Him but He immediately disappeared. Why?
By this time they were nearing Emmaus and the end of their journey. Jesus acted as if he were going on, but they begged him, “Stay the night with us, since it is getting late.” So he went home with them. As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared!
They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” from Luke 24Why did their hearts burn within them as He explained the old testament scriptures to them? Because I desire that same kind of burning in my heart for Him, I decided to study the Old Testament references to Him. I am going to try to cover all of them between now and Pentecost. Won't you join me? I googled it and got a listing of Old Testament references. I can hardly wait to get started. In the meantime, I want to walk and talk and commune with Him and recognize Him in every situation of my life.
