christmas: a time for reuniting
Andrew is the player to the right.
Wow! This past week has been full of Christmas celebration. I will give you a quick run down of the week--I will be posting details in the next few days. No way I can get them all down here today.
Last Tuesday we drove to Fort Smith, AR to visit my BIL and SIL, Mike and Betty Kai. On Wednesday we drove to Norman, Oklahoma and reunited with a young man, Greg from New York, who lived with us for a year some twenty years ago. We had not seen him in all that time. Since he left us, much water has passed under the bridge. One of the blessings of that time is a son named Andrew who is now playing basketball for the University of Oklahoma. We spent Wed. peaking in on OU basketball practice, attending the OU/Arkansas game and dining out with them afterwards.
Our son, Jeff, and his children, Kailey and Kendall drove the long distance to see Greg and Andrew, getting in to Norman just right before the game started and leaving at 5a.m. the next morning to get the kids back for their required activities. Kendall had a game Thursday night and he had to be back to attend at least half a day of school or he couldn't play. It was well worth the sacrifice. Kailey and Kendall had never met their uncle or their cousin.
We spent Thursday morning with Greg and then took him to Will Rogers International airport for his journey home to New York--many laughs at old memories of an 18 year old inner-city African American male coming to live with a southern Caucasian family. He didn't like some of Pops' house rules back then but oh, if you could have seen the tears when he hugged Pops "hello" and "goodbye" and wouldn't let go.
We are so proud of the man he has become--loves Jesus with all of his heart and definitely has a "giving and sacrificial spirit."
We then drove to Tulsa where we lived for 30 years and where one of our sons and his family live now.
From Thursday til Monday night, we got to see four Christmas programs that our Tulsa granddaughters were in. Celebrating with family and friends--that is one of the main ways we celebrate the gift of life through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
I will be boring you to tears the next few days with many pictures of those activities.
