The baptismal waters are stilled,
the bugles are silenced,
no fingers grace these keys,
the stops are all closed,
the hundreds of pipes are quiet,
the cross that once was so heartbreaking,
is relieved of its sorrow,
The sanctuary is now empty.
This weekend some have celebrated in small home gatherings, some in quiet country settings, some in great churches pulling out all the stops of the organ, but each of us, as Easter weekend draws to a close, is faced with this question from Jesus: "Who do you say that I am?"
Matthew 16:13-15
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
1 John 4:1-6 NIV
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood." From God's WordWhat will our answer be?
If we say, "Jesus has come in the flesh," what then? God willing, tomorrow's post will address this question.
My prayer is that all His blessings will rest upon you,
Dianne
