When Your Heart Feels As If It Could Burst.........

Jordan, Chase and Nick worshiping the Lord--Ryan leading in praise and worship

I believe we have twenty-eight incredible guys residing at the Ranch right now--

Some sleeping on couches and several on air mattresses in the room we use for classes and chapel but we know God has a plan and we are trusting Him.

To see these men reunited with their families,--wives, children, grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends is one of the most glorious things I've ever experienced.

We are in the middle of a four-day revival with First Baptist Church, Beebe, AR--we are a nondenominational facility and have different churches who sponsor us.  Thank God for all the churches and individuals who help take care of the needs of these guys.

The cost to them is free--Jesus paid the price.

Please pray for us and thank you so much to those of you who already do.

I love all of you so much.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:1,2

Faith Is Her Name

Faith is her name.

A tear is ready to splash from her eye but she still has a smile. Why?  Because she sees a rainbow in every tear of her life. She knows that all that the enemy means for harm, God will work for her good and His glory if she will trust and love Him.

You may notice that she has a very strong jaw line. She has set her face like flint because she knows she will not be put to shame.

Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

Come to the Waters

One of my mentees and I are going through the book by Madame Jeanne Guyon, Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ.

A few weeks ago I loaned her my copy which I had gone through  many times over the years but had somehow lain aside for the past two or three years.

Yesterday, I went by Mardel and they had it in stock.  It used to be hard to get--had gone out of print at one point in time, etc. etc.

So, I was able to get her a new copy and got my old copy back.

I read the first and second chapters this morning and oh my, why I ever lay that book down is a mystery to me.  It blessed my socks off.

When I read the Bible as she suggests, it ministers to me in a way that I cannot explain except to say there were tears of joy, love, remembrance and thankfulness before I had read more than one verse of the chapter I had chosen from Isaiah 55.

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
    come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
    come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
    without money and without cost."

Think about the most thirsty you've ever been.......

Dwell on the misery for a moment--for lots of moments--imagine the day, the month, the year, the occasion--boy do I ever remember the most thirsty I've ever been in my life--

Fellowship meeting,

unairconditioned church,

July or August,

no plumbing,

there all afternoon,

funeral fans humming,

flies buzzing,

children on pallets napping,

guitars playing,

tamborines banging,

banjos strumming

people preaching,

solos singing,

quartets harmonizing,

duets dueling,

chug-a-lugging mason jars of water,

babies crying,

teenagers fidgeting,

grandpas snoring,

empty mason jars,

dry, parched throat,

walk in the heat to a neighboring house a ways down the gravel road to beg for water,

the cooling well water trickling down the sandpaper guzzle,

Joy unspeakable!

I came to the waters--

The author, Madame Guyon states in the first chapter:

"May I hasten to say that the kind of prayer I am speaking of is not a prayer that comes from your mind.  It begins in your heart.  It does not come from your understanding or your thoughts.   Prayer offered to the Lord from your mind simply would not be adequate.  Why?  Because your mind is very limited.  The mind can pay attention to only one thing at a time.  Prayer that comes out of the heart is not interrupted by thinking!  I will go so far as to say that nothing can interrupt this prayer, the prayer of simplicity.

Oh yes, there is one thing........................................"

Just while I was writing this I had this thought--

why not give away a copy--

Personally, I have never particularly liked blog give-a-ways--my reasoning shall remain with me--

but if you would like a chance to win a copy of this book,

just please drop me a quiet line by email and I will draw names and send

one out.  I don't know how to use the random generator thingie so you will just have to trust that I do

this honestly.  I wish I could send every one of you a copy of this book.  My email address is under contact on the side bar.

Won't you come to His waters my friend--they are sweet.

Very, very sweet.

Hoping you will read Isaiah 55

Drawing for the book will be Friday evening, April 26th.

A Long and Maybe Never Goodbye

When I started blogging several years ago, I promised God that I would blog for five years.
I had a couple of goals at that time.

I wanted to someday put together a daily devotional book.  I figured if I could write a quality blog post once a week or so that maybe after a few years I would have enough posts to pick 365 and would have my book.

I have posted between 1200 and 1300 times I think and I doubt that I have 50 truly book worthy devotionals--writing a true quality post on a daily basis or even a weekly basis is not an easy task.

I will never again take lightly a good daily column.

My other goal was to write so that my descendants could read my stories someday and feel as if they knew me even if just a little bit.

I would give anything to have stories that my parents and grandparents wrote but I realize not every one is like me.

So, none of my descendants may ever read a word that I wrote and I am okay with that--NOW!

To those of you who have "got me" and what I am all about, I want to thank you so very much.

To the encouragers along the way, oh, there is no way I can begin to tell you how much you helped me.  I think you know who you are.

I promised God the five years for a couple of reasons.  I had started and stopped so many things in my life and did not want to be a quitter.

I also wanted to give God time to grow me into the kind of blogger He desired.

My five years will be done in May. Well, that's what I thought until I noticed the other day that I actually started in late April.

So one week from today my five years will be up.  It has passed so fast.

I have made some incredible friends.  And even had the privilege of meeting five of them.

Karen from Mississippi--Her blog is Places of My Heart and if you knew her and ever visited her home and met her family, you would certainly understand the name of her blog.  The problem with it is this--the places of her heart very quickly became the places of my heart also and I will always miss her.

Karen's mother-in-law, Marilyn, from Louisiana--Marilyn is not actually a blogger but she reads my blog.  Actually I spent about 8 straight days with Karen and Marilyn and we had an absolute blast.  (Does anyone say that any more--blast?--referring to a great time) We attended Nancy's prayer retreat in N.C.

Mary B. who lives in Pennsylvania and hosts Me, Myself and Mercy--I only got to spend a couple of hours with Mary but they were oh so wonderful and I feel that our friendship has just kept on growing. Mary almost always writes about God and His Word.

Nancy from Created for a Journey--Nancy lives in North Carolina--We got to spend about two days with Nancy and through the laughter, tears, walks, talks, and her teaching feel like I got to know her really well.

Nancy's family has been through some really tough times in the year since I met her.

But God is seeing them through and their lives are certainly a testament to that.

And Sandy who also lives in North Carolina.  Her blog is Faith Hope Love--Sandy and I have been emailing each other regularly for several years now.

We only got to spend about an hour with her but it was the culmination of a dream.  We had become such close friends that it seemed impossible that I could go through the rest of my life without meeting her.  Now I know exactly what she looks like--I can picture her in her sweet home and oh my, her yard is just beautiful.

Through us following one another's blogs and our often emails and feeling free to share from the depths of our hearts, Sandy and I have become lifelong friends.

She and her family have also been through some incredibly tough times and she shares some of that on her blog.  You will love Sandy's insight into God's Word.

So I say all that to say--I don't know how much I will be blogging from now on.  I don't think it will be nearly as often.  Blogging takes a lot of time and I want to devote more time to my photography, art and to my preparation for teaching at the Ranch.

I am also mentoring two precious women right now and I want to be available to mentor more if that is what God wants of me.

Hopefully I will be stopping by here often to post some prayers under "Pray With Me" and some gratitudes under "Counting My Blessings."

I am expecting that I will post once or twice a week but I am just going to let it flow naturally.  If I don't have anything of value to share with you, I probably won't post.

Maria  (my very first follower), Debbie B, Anita, Elizabeth, Sarah, Nancy K--all of you have been such a special blessing to me--

Update:  I knew if I tried to list everyone I would leave someone out and sure enough I did--Susy @ The Feathered Nest--I am so sorry I left you out--you have been an incredible blessing and encourager to me.  Please forgive--

To my precious followers--I appreciate you so and thank you for coming along on this journey--I hope that you don't go anywhere--I will miss you if you do when I check in from time to time.

I do sincerely love you all,
Dianne

I took this picture this morning--do you know how hard it is to pose while holding a IPad?  In case you are interested, I used an App called moreBeaute2 to take out lots of wrinkles and had a "glow."  --smile--

Oh and this is most important--did you know that wrinkled collars and no ironing are now in style.  Today was the first time I had ever worn a blouse that needed ironing and didn't get it--It was a magical experience--well, for me, a lazy one!

She Knows

For the sake of understanding the story--for those of you who don't know, Renewal Ranch is a place right outside of Conway, AR dedicated to helping men restore their lives through Christ, men who have been in the addictions of alcohol and/or drugs.

My husband and I are volunteers at the Ranch.

I know your time is valuable but if you get a chance I hope you will skim over it.

There is a very neat addendum to the story.

Right after I started taking pictures of this painting, a ray of sunlight suddenly engulfed it.

I will call the main character S. like I did in the other post.

S. never got in Renewal Ranch but he is walking free in God's victory today.  He has been clean for a year and two months.

In the other story, I posted that his problem was drugs.  However, it was alcohol.

A few months ago, S. met a young man in the throes of addiction and brought him to the Ranch.

His friend, R, got in.

A few weeks ago, S, R and I were asked to give our testimony.

I started telling basically the same story I told in the other post.

S. picked up where I left off and then R. told of his part of the story.

The thing is--we all KNOW beyond a shadow of any doubt that it was orchestrated by God and we give Him all the glory.

Wanting to remember this event and how God orchestrated it, I started a journal page last year.

I got almost finished and got discouraged about the girl's face.

Today I decided to paint in my art journal and happened to turn to this page.

I worked on her face a little bit and am pleased with it now.

In Him we live and move and have our being.  Acts 17:28

Goodwill Jeans

My daughter-in-law works for "the Goodwill" as some of you (tongue in cheek) call it.

They are having a big fundraiser/fashion show which sounds like it will be quite fun.

The gist of it goes like this: They have enlisted several local artists and models.

Each model went to Goodwill, picked out a pair of jeans that they will model in the fashion show and then the jeans were delivered to one of the artists to be embellished/painted etc.

The day of the luncheon and auction each pair of jeans will be modeled and sold to benefit Goodwill.

I am not quite through with the pair of jeans I am decorating but here they are. I will add a vine of flowers to the right back leg and another flower on the left back pocket.

The true calligraphers out there would be appalled by this lettering but I call myself a "modern mark maker."  That gives me a license (smile) to do a lot of things I could not get by with otherwise.

A Promise

Thinking about Boston reminded me of a wall hanging I made a few years ago.

I love the message and pray this for all those hurting.

It was made on muslin using watercolors, FW acrylic inks and Sharpie permanent pens.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

I'm in Charge of Celebrations

Photo textured with Kim Klassen's 3003 at 16% opacity.

Today I am celebrating--as I do most every day.

I am celebrating one of the best books I've ever read.

Sure some might think it a children's or juvenile's book but the

lesson learned from it is good for all.

Reading this book will make you want to go out in your yard or neighborhood and look for things to celebrate--and I promise you, you will not be disappointed--by the book or by what you find on a nature walk.

This book just happens to celebrate the mysterious beauties of the desert.
I've been in the deserts of Arizona and I concur wholeheartedly with the author's amazement and celebration of life and beauty there.

Today I am celebrating the azaleas that are in bloom in my front yard--I think about nine bushes of these luscious peachy flowers.

I am celebrating the yellow jasmine which grows over an arbor in my front side yard.  I'm sure it has thousands of blooms.  Saturday one of our neighbor's sons who was headed to prom used it for a backdrop for his prom picture.

And a huge George Taber azalea in the far corner of my back yard.

But most of all, I am celebrating the One who made all of this possible--our Heavenly Father!

For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible--
Col. 1:16a, English Standard Bible

I've Made Up My Mind

Well, I've finally done it--made up my mind that is!

There is nothing on God's green earth that moves me like the dogwood tree.

It's beauty and grace are unmatched--in my humble opinion.

Give me a camera and a few blooms and my day is made!

Thanking God for all of his many blessings this past week--
among them this beautiful tree growing in my front side yard.

Their beauty is breathtaking to me--

Exquisite--as much as I love that word, it is not good enough......

Thank you, God for all the blessings--

Really too numerous to count--

The week at Mountain View with the guys from Renewal Ranch--

Ronnie fixing our car while there--

The six men who came to chapel on Saturday wanting to have their lives restored through
Jesus Christ

The incredible service we had--

The voices of Dean, Chance and Ed as they blended together in perfect harmony--

The fun, food, laughter and fellowship--

That Abel returned from his grandfather's funeral in Texas

That Atlas came home--

That Kim gave her testimony Sunday night--a year clean--how awesome!

Some of the Lights of My Life

My husband and I are at a fishing resort in Mountain View with the men from Renewal Ranch.  The resort has been here over fifty years and really needs a lot of tender loving care.

We came for a week last year and again this year--as an act of service to the lovely people who own and run this place.  One of the volunteers at the Ranch has been coming here every year for over 30 years.  He knew of the need and arranged our trip.

The hours that our men work and all they do would literally cost a small fortune and this is a way we can give back for all the support we get from the community.

A little study time for class next week--

The guys are working so hard and accomplishing so much while we are here--from replacing railroad tie steps leading down to the dock, to reroofing an outbuilding, to trimming lot and lots of trees and bushes, to painting the screened in porches on nine units to general clean up--they did a he-man amount of work.  So proud of the work God is doing in their lives and their sweet attitudes.

Oh, how we love the men of Renewal Ranch.  It is my prayer that God will keep His hand and His spirit upon this place so that men will continue to have their lives restored through Christ.  What an awesome privilege to get to be a small part of the great work God is doing in the hearts of these men.  Thank you, Lord!

My apologies to Ernie and Shawn.  I couldn't find them when I was taking pictures so will have to update the post later with their pictures.
